Filter by case type

Nursing home neglect

Protecting residents when a care facility fails to keep them safe.

Families trust nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, assisted-living communities, and other long-term care facilities to provide attentive, dignified care. When understaffing, poor training, ignored warning signs, or unsafe practices cause serious harm, KSG Law investigates what happened and pursues accountability.

These cases often require careful review of medical records, staffing information, care plans, incident reports, facility policies, regulatory findings, and testimony from medical and long-term care experts.

Pressure injuries Bedsores caused or worsened by inadequate repositioning, skin care, nutrition, or treatment.
Falls and fractures Injuries involving inadequate supervision, unsafe transfers, missing alarms, or ignored fall risks.
Medication errors Wrong medications, incorrect dosages, missed doses, dangerous interactions, or poor monitoring.
Malnutrition and dehydration Failure to monitor intake, weight loss, swallowing risks, or a resident's changing needs.
Infection and delayed treatment Failure to recognize or timely respond to sepsis, wound infection, respiratory illness, or other deterioration.
Abuse and unsafe supervision Physical abuse, inappropriate restraint, elopement, resident-on-resident harm, or other preventable incidents.
Choking and aspiration Failure to follow dietary restrictions, swallowing precautions, feeding plans, or safe positioning requirements.
Neglected hygiene and incontinence care Inadequate bathing, toileting, oral care, or clean bedding that contributes to infection, skin breakdown, or loss of dignity.

Founder profile

Kelly Sabo Gaden

Kelly Sabo Gaden is a trial lawyer who represents individuals and families in complex, high-stakes personal injury and wrongful death cases. Her practice focuses on nursing home neglect and abuse, medical malpractice, birth injury, catastrophic trucking and auto cases, Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILA), and other matters involving serious or fatal injuries.

Over the course of nearly two decades in practice, Kelly has secured more than $265 million in verdicts and settlements for her clients. Her experience includes record-setting verdicts and significant recoveries in nursing home, medical negligence, trucking, abuse, and catastrophic injury cases.

Kelly founded KSG Law to create a deliberately focused practice where significant cases receive direct attorney involvement, careful preparation, and the resources necessary to take on sophisticated defendants and insurers. She works closely with her clients throughout the litigation process, helping them understand not only what is happening in their case, but why.

Before founding KSG Law, Kelly held senior leadership roles at prominent Chicago plaintiff's law firms, including leading long-term care and medical malpractice teams. Throughout her career, she has developed particular experience investigating and prosecuting cases involving failures in nursing home and long-term care settings.

Kelly is also an active leader in the legal community. She has served in leadership roles with the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois and the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and has been involved with the American Association for Justice, including its Nursing Home Litigation Group, the American Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association. She has also devoted substantial time to mentoring younger lawyers, particularly women entering and advancing within the trial bar.
